Andy Martin predicts a Middle East “Nixon in China” moment for a new Republican president in 2013

Martin says that whichever Republican is elected in 2012 will recognize a Palestinian state and end the stalemate

Martin brings “good news” to the People of Palestine and Israel

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

(NEW YORK) (September 24, 2011) This column brings good news for the people of Israel and the people of Palestine. A new Republican president will end the endless conflict in 2013. I am openly predicting a “Nixon in China” moment for the Middle East.

With all due respect to former Governor Jon Huntsman, who claims foreign policy experience based on “having lived overseas four times,” living abroad doesn’t make you an expert. Only being involved in the nitty gritty of the real world, as I have been for decades, makes you an expert on what to do and how to do it.

The Palestinian/Israel confrontation is not insoluble, as some believe, and it will not grind on much longer, as many expect.

I can state without fear of contradiction that the vast majority of the Israeli people want peace, and the vast majority of Palestinians want peace. So peace is not the issue. Internal Israeli politics and US campaign politics are the major stumbling blocks to peace. They are not insurmountable.

Now, obviously, I am not the front-runner for the Republican party’s presidential nomination. But I will be doing my darnedest to get on the national ticket some way, somehow. Governors Perry and Romney, or whoever grabs the gold ring, will need my experience.

First, a little background. A couple of years ago a close friend died. Fred Howard was a refugee from Nazi Germany. You can even see a movie where Fred is featured, “The Ritchie Boys.” (link below) Despite the horrors of the Holocaust, Fred never lost his love for Germany or German culture. Fred was about forgiveness, reconciliation and understanding. Fred had an overwhelming and abiding love for Israel, though his views were leftist. I was his token Republican.

Through the lens of Fred’s experience and great wealth I came to have a unique and expanded insight into Israel and Palestine. Fred’s fortune—he left over $50 million for Jewish causes—was directed at establishing peace between Israelis and Palestinians. He gave generously to Givat Haviva and other pro-reconciliation organizations (link below).

I would never do anything to dishonor Fred’s goals and Fred’s love for Israel. His great spirit is with me always.

I also know that Barack Obama—despite the right-wing hissy fits that Obama is anti-Israel--is not anti-Israel. The Middle East does not begin to establish why Obama is a failure as a world leader. The best explanation I have seen for Obama’s failures comes from the editor of an obscure Illinois political poop sheet (www.CapitolFax.com, link below) that, like me, knew Obama before he was “Obama” and when he was only a Southside politician from Chicago. Rich Miller had a column in Friday’s Chicago Sun-Times that explains the essence of Obama’s failure as a national leader (link below).

In fact, I will go one step further. As someone who has studied Obama and virtually lived in his clothes for the past seven years, I could tell “President” Obama how to get reelected. I don’t expect him to call me, and I won't volunteer his path to reelection, but it’s there. Obama just can’t see it. And so it will be left to Republicans to solve the Israel/Palestine confrontation in 2013.

I call 2013 a potential “Nixon in China” moment because it took President Nixon, who had a history of opposition to China, to open the door to China. Here’s why.

I. In reality, the U. S. can no longer protect Israel

Despite all of the fund raising hoopla in both parties about the “friendship” between Israel and the United States, the US can no longer defend Israel. In 1973, President Nixon saved Israel when he ordered “everything that could fly” to resupply Israel in the midst of the 1973 war (link below). Today, the US could probably not mount such a vast resupply operation; our resources are shrinking daily and we lack the capacity to do what Nixon did.

Israel has lost all of its regional allies. Israel cannot be secure without the support of Egypt and Turkey. These nations are regional leaders and regional powers. This week Turkey denounced Israel at the UN (link below). Egyptian public opinion is strongly against Israel. The future is ominous.

The US cannot neutralize the Iranian threat to world peace without the strong support of our regional allies. But our allies will not lift a finger to help us as long as their domestic public opinion is trending anti-American. We need to change that dynamic. Only a Republican can.

You won’t see it published in any US newspaper but even President Bill Clinton’s ultra-sensitive antennas have criticized the Israeli government (link below to Haaretz.com). So time is not on Israel’s side.

The contours of a Palestinian/Israeli solution have been known for years. Israeli leaders who are free to speak the truth know that (Olmert link below). Pro-Israel media admit that as well (NYT link below). So what are we waiting for? (Answer: we are waiting for a Republican leader to do a “Nixon in China” and make peace.)

II. There is a “new” Palestine

Friday there was a full-color, full-page ad in the New York Times. On behalf of the people of Palestine. Americans who are locked in a retrospective view of the Palestinian people are living in the past. This is “not your grandfather’s PLO.” History is of little help in dealing with the future. The world community, national leaders, diplomats, have seen the current Palestinian leadership run circles around the Israelis. Take a look at that full-color, full-page Palestinian ad if you have access to the printed Times.

Palestinian President Abbas does not wear a pistol, Arafat-style. His western dress is as conservative as that of any national leader. There are no keffiyehs in the Palestinian delegation. More importantly, only Abbas can defeat Hamas and stop Iranian expansionism. The US can’t defeat Hamas, the Israelis can’t defeat Hamas. Only Palestinians can regain control of their polity.

Israel can still win a shooing war against Palestinians. But Israelis can no longer win a public relations war; in fact they are losing the public relations war. And the outcome of their conflict will be determined and defined by public relations and politics, not bullets.

III. Without a Palestinian state, Israel will not survive

If political fund-raiser speeches could change the world or define the world what an easy world it would be. Hot-air and half-truths could rage against reality and never lose. But the real world is a very different place. My experience comes out of the real world, not the fantasy island of politics.

I’ve met Israeli government officials, kibbutz leaders, military people and, yes, even clandestine operatives. No other Republican actually knows Israel the way I do. While Republicans may profess to support Israel few of them have ever met Israelis outside the confines of pro-government handlers and structured itineraries. I have. My father helped train the original Israeli militia units.

Seven years ago I opposed the invasion of Iraq. Why? I predicted that invading Iraq would empower Iran (it did). I also predicted invading Iraq would eventually endanger Israel (it has, see empowering Iran). So I have a real world track record of understanding foreign policy, not a comic book collage of talking points for campaign contributors. I first went to the Middle East Forty years ago; when did Perry and Romney arrive on the scene?

Today we have Barack Obama in his full “St. Augustine” mode (I’m for peace, God, “but not quite yet.”) Or Governor Perry, who seems to have founded his own one-man crusade, “Christians for Israel.” Or Michele Bachmann, who is not Jewish but allows the false impression to propagate that she is Jewish in the hopes of raising campaign cash (link below).

While I tease my Republican opponents I believe one of them will land in the White House in 2013. And that new president will make peace between Israel and Palestine. Based on my solid record of predicting our foreign policy future would you bet against me?

Finally, I do have one grievance against the people of Israel. So far as I am aware (and I will be delighted to stand corrected if I am mistaken) there is no public memorial or monument to President Richard Nixon in Israel. This is sad.

President Nixon was pilloried for making anti-Semitic remarks on the White House tapes. But Nixon saved the state of Israel from being overrun in 1973. He sent the planes flying full of American supplies. He turned the tide. Israelis have yet to erect any monument respecting his beneficence (no doubt because it raises the embarrassing rejoinder of why they were so unprepared for war). Israel owes President Nixon an appropriate appreciation and remembrance.

Nixon was not an anti-Semite. He made outrageous statements, but who among us has not? Nixon reflected the state-of-mind of the era in which he lived and the “locker room” atmosphere of a White House where talking trash was macho. [Full disclosure: Barack Obama regularly accuses me of being an anti-Semite, but I am not. In 2008 my friend Fred Howard offered to buy a full-page, full-color ad in the New York Times attacking anyone who would call me anti-Semitic. I told Fred we should save his money and throw a party. Nixon never had any intention of being anti-Semitic and neither have I. Obama owes me an apology.]

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin: CNN put Tea Party in political mainstream

In his second of a two-part reaction to last week’s CNN debate, Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin says that CNN’s co-sponsorship of the CNN/Tea party debate has brought the Tea Party into the America mainstream. Andy Martin on the CNN “debate,” Part Two (of two parts)

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter drops out of presidential race

Martin predicts the CNN debate will prove to be a watershed event

Andy says “Three Cheers for the Tea Party”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

(NEW YORK) (September 22, 2011) I can’t predict what will happen tonight at the Fox News “debate.” Earlier today Representative Thaddeus McCotter dropped out of the presidential race claiming “the media” did him in. Oh really?

In a more interesting development, Michele Bachmann has cancelled an event she requested in Illinois (link below). How do you cancel an event you yourself requested? Beats me. I have nothing against Michele but she is giving conservatives a bad name with her ditsy campaign. Government injection, anyone?

Right now, I have a more “national” campaign than Michele. She is, according to her former campaign guru Ed Rollins, restricting herself to Iowa. I am coast-to-coast and across the Pacific to Hawai’i. I don’t think I’ll run into Michele campaigning in Honolulu next week (my “Countdown to Honolulu" is now four days away!) The media are still paying more attention to Michele than me, but her media presence can’t last if her campaign ends up like Alice-In-Wonderland’s Cheshire Cat, nothing more than an empty smile.

Before last week’s CNN debate passes into history I would like to point out that the CNN event will have lasting impact on the 2012 presidential race.

I liked the Tea Party message from the gitgo. Professional politicians in Washington are raping the United States and destroying our nation. We need less government, less regulation, less taxation and less of the permanent political class that is oppressing working families. What’s not to like abut the Tea Party?

But ever since the Tea Party appeared two years ago, Barack Obama and his media storm troopers have done everything they can to degrade Tea Party supporters. Obama recognized right away the Tea Party had the makings of a “Reagan Democrats” operation that could threaten his reelection. So he decided to destroy the Tea Party nucleus before it expanded into a powerful opposition movement. He failed.

Right into 2011 the Tea Party was still being attacked, maligned, abused, accused of racism, blah, blah, blah. As former Mayor Daley of Chicago said in 1968, “They have even criticized me.” (link below)

But no more.

Now that CNN has co-sponsored an event with the Tea Party it would be hard to say the Tea Party is outside the mainstream. Ironically it was CNN, the original “Clinton News Network,” that legitimized the Tea Party. Well la dee da.

The Tea Party will have its ups and downs, its good days and bad days, power struggles and power plays; it will support good candidates and bad candidates. That’s what politics is all about. Even reform politics. No one and no movement and no party is perfect. (Full disclosure: I’m not perfect, either.)

But thanks to CNN the Tea Party has joined the American media mainstream.

ANDY MARTIN IS RETURNING TO HONOLULU TO CONTINUE HIS INVESTIGATION INTO BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA’S PAST

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

[NOTE: Most Americans initially became aware of Andy Martin in 2008 because of his relentless efforts to secure the release of Barack Obama’s secret Hawaiian birth certificate. But Andy Martin has been investigating Barack Obama for the past seven years. Andy was the first investigator to land in Honolulu to search for actual evidence of Barack Obama’s personal history. He produced an Internet movie on Obama in Hawai’i (see below) and a bestselling book. Andy’s interview with Sean Hannity became the most controversial video moment of the 2008 campaign. Andy continues to be profiled and pilloried by the leftist media.]

(NEW YORK) (September 21, 2011) My presidential campaign does not get a lot of attention from the national media. But you don’t hear me complain. Our tiny campaign budget limits the number of speaking invitations we can accept but we are still building up a subterranean national operation. Like the tortoise who is watching the other media stars “debate,” I just keep focused on moving ahead. In “First Primary” New Hampshire, our campaign is granite solid. In October we will be rolling out more states and a higher profile for the national effort.

What makes me different from other presidential candidates is that I’m not a professional politician. Although I’ve spent part of my entire life in national and state politics, I also have a life and a history outside politics. Unlike politicians, who travel as Roman proconsuls to foreign lands I’ve always gone overseas without official pageantry to detract from the reality of the local situation.

Most of all, I’ve been an investigator and analyst who has set up information networks around the world, corralled local sources and information, and provided cutting edge analysis and interpretation—often at odds with the U. S. Government’s rosy predictions and policies.

It was that love of foreign lands that originally motivated me to look into Barack Obama’s “autobiography” about his “goat-herd” father and his Kenyan origins. Obama began selling his “nativity narrative” nationally in 2004. Along the way my writing created the “Birther” movement as it was derisively nicknamed by the mainstream media.

I was probably the “investigator” Donald Trump was talking about earlier this year, because some of Trump’s comments looked as though they had been ripped right out of my earlier columns. Trump does not appear to have ever had any investigators of his own in Hawai’i. He never produced any evidence of anything but a promotional campaign for his TV show, using the Birther movement as a backdrop.

But in the background of the media frenzy surrounding Trump, I kept laboring on, digging, researching, sifting, analyzing.

One of the reasons I get under Obama’s skin, despite my lack of a high profile nationally, is that my research uncovers truths about the man that spread throughout the Internet. In 2007-2007 we assembled a “psychological profile” on Obama. If you read the “profile” in my book (or find it free on the Internet), my predictions as to what kind of a president Obama would be are uncanny.

And although I consider Obama a political adversary I do not hate the man. I am not a hateful person by nature. Trained as a lawyer I am definitively adversarial, but not hateful.

In the course of many visits to Hawai’i I have come to love the people there. Hawai’i has become a home-away-from-home. My sources have become a second family or, as it is called in Hawaiian, my “ohana.”

Do we know everything we need to know about Barack Obama? Not really. There are still secrets out there, mysteries, gaps. How did his family pay for the Punahou School, which has high prep school fees? Who socialized with him? What about Occidental College? More questions. On and on it goes.

The mainstream media pronounced the “Birther” movement dead and buried in April. But that is not the case “out there.” What has surprised me on the national campaign trail is the depth and persistence of the Birther movement. People still do not truth Obama; they do not trust his answers. They do not believe his story. And I keep digging, quietly, patiently, honestly.

Some people were afraid to speak with me in earlier trips to Honolulu. Maybe they will open up on this trip. Shortly after I arrived in Honolulu in 2008 and began efforts to meet with his grandmother, Obama turned his campaign plane around and pointed it at--where else?--Honolulu. I know Obama better than anyone. I am comfortable jabbing at him, standing up to him, challenging him.

The reasons why I am an unusual presidential candidate also make me a unique candidate for the national ticket. I get under Obama’s skin because he knows I have developed a “Hawaiian” attitude about my opposition. My thrusts at Obama are gentle, which is why they are so powerful. I try to find the facts and tell the truth, perhaps a later–day version of Dragnet’s Sergeant Joe Friday (“Just the facts, ma’am”). In Hawai’i they call me “McGarrett” after the fictional no-nonsense detective of the original Hawai’i 5-O. I am strictly a no-nonsense investigator, which is why I am still alive forty-four years after I made my first overseas trip. And why my efforts continue to bedevil Obama.

Obama keeps trying to attack me, undermine me, smear me. It’s a great compliment that he takes my efforts so seriously.

As soon as I can prepare a follow-up to these thoughts I’ll provide more detailed indication of where my research is heading on this trip to Honolulu.

If you have sent a contribution to support the research in Hawai’i, thanks for doing so. If not, consider doing so and stay tuned for what we discover about the mysterious Mr. Obama. There’s still a lot to learn about him. As Americans are learning every day.

In the meantime, please keep my presidential campaign in mind while I am working on your behalf in Honolulu. We’ll be booking future stateside speeches, meetings and events from Honolulu; we’ll be ready to roll when we return to the mainland on October 6th. Just as some of the other presidential candidates get exhausted or drop out, we’ll be rested and ready to rev up our campaign engines. And if you don’t think my presidential campaign is going anywhere, just keep an eye on what Obama & Co. are doing. They always have their eyes and their operatives on me. Frankly, I don’t blame them. As New Hampshire’s favorite son presidential candidate, I will be heard from. From coast-to-coast, and on to Honolulu.

Aloha.
