GOP presidential
candidate Andy Martin will hold a Manchester, New Hampshire news conference
today, Monday, January 18th, to explain Part One of “Why Ted Cruz is unfit to
serve as president.” Andy’s “unfitness” series will deal with Cruz’ financial deficiencies
as a candidate and not his Canadian birth status. “Donald Trump is a super-successful
businessman,” Andy says. “But he is a very inexperienced, unprepared and often disorganized
candidate. Trump is attacking Cruz for his prior failure to file financial
reports. Unfortunately, Trump is missing the ‘forest for the trees.’ Trump, in
real estate terms, is ‘leaving a lot of money on the table.’ Ted Cruz’ family situation
is such that he simply is unelectable because of his wife’s career at Goldman
Sachs while that firm was looting Middle America .
The disqualification is not that Cruz overlooked his Goldman Sachs loan; the real
disqualification is that Cruz’ career was financed by his wife’s tainted Goldman
cash.

Republican presidential candidate Andy
Martin will hold a Manchester, New Hampshire news conference today, Monday, January
18th to explain Part One of “Why Ted Cruz is unfit to serve as president.” Part
Two will follow later this week.
“I accept Ted Cruz’
explanation that he may have ‘overlooked’ disclosure of his Goldman Sachs loan
in running for the Senate, even though the oversight is very suspicious,” Andy
says. “But the real issue is not the non-filing. The disqualifying issue for
Cruz is that electing him would place a Goldman Sachs employee in the White
House as first lady. That is simply unacceptable to the American people. If it
looks as though Cruz might be nominated, that will put Bernie Sanders on a
short track to the Oval Office.
“The Cruz situation
raises interesting issues concerning the modern definition of ‘family’ for presidential
campaign purposes. Traditionally, spouses and children wee ‘off-limits.’ But
that was in the Bess Truman-Mamie Eisenhower era. Heidi Cruz is an integral
part of the Cruz campaign. Heidi recently sent me an appeal for money:

If Heidi is in the
thick of the campaign, then her financial history with Goldman Sachs is fair
game. If Cruz’ spouse was a bank robber, no one would doubt that the Cruz
‘family’ was unfit to be First Family. Well, Heidi Cruz got rich working for a
firm that robbed Main Street and Middle America and helped precipitate the
financial collapse of America's economy, all while profiting from its own
insider connections.
“Not surprisingly,
Ted Cruz has not released his tax returns and Heidi’s tax returns. But it is
obvious if he and Heidi could borrow half a million dollars from Goldman Sachs,
and another half a million from Citibank, Heidi was making millions while
working for a firm that was fleecing the very evangelical Americans that Cruz is
now soliciting with pious pronouncements. Why is a bank robber any different
than a corporate robber that destroyed our financial markets and got richer in
the process?
“Just days ago,
Goldman agreed to pay billions more in penalties for its financial fraud. I
have lost track of all of the fines and penalties Goldman paid for fraud and
trickery on Wall Street while Heidi Cruz was working for the firm.
“Electing Cruz would
put a Goldman Sachs ‘robber’ right in the White House. Is all forgiven? Was
Goldman’s greed and fraud just a mirage? Sunday night Bernie Sanders used
Goldman’s speaking fees to Hillary Clinton as a disqualifying factor for her.

“Republicans are
cocksure they can defeat Sanders. I am not so sure. When has the foreclosure
fraud crisis, and the way hedge funds and Wall Street firms are still
foreclosing on innocent homeowners, been an issue in the so-called ‘debates?’ Never.
Hillary Clinton says she is for African-Americans. But Hillary has taken cash
from Goldman and other Wall Streeters at the same time as hedge funds and other
financial firms continue to file phony forecloses on minorities. What
hypocrisy. Except that the Cruz’ are just as big hypocrites as the Clintons
“The day is coming
when I will ask presidential voters to focus on the continuing crisis of
foreclosure fraud, and to seek promises from candidates that they will reach
back and prosecute the villains who destroyed our cities and small towns with
fraudulent foreclosure lawsuits. I am preparing to focus on Wall Street
foreclosure fraud as a pox on both parties. Their silence is deafening.
“While Ted Cruz was
rising in politics he was surreptitiously relying on his wife’s income to
foster his political career. Heidi Cruz was in effect a ‘Mafia Princess’ of
Wall Street. Do we want to reward Goldman Sachs by placing one of is employees
in the White House? Absolutely not. Millions of Americans lost their homes
because of the financial trickery of Goldman and Wall Street firms and hedge
funds. That trickery is still going on. Putting a Goldman employee in the White
House would be a slap in the face to the millions, probably tens of millions,
of victims of Goldman Sachs' greed and gross abuse of our free markets.
“Heidi Cruz obviously
wasn’t paid millions of dollars to lick envelopes at Goldman. She had a job
that provided lavish compensation, for using financial legerdemain to steal
from the American people. For a private citizen such behavior may be lawful;
for a president’s spouse? For shame. I believe Heidi Cruz and every Goldman
employee is guilty even if they did not personally engage in trickery. They
knew they were profiting from the firm’s perfidiousness.
“I bear Ted Cruz no
ill will. If he is nominated, I will vote for him. In many respects his life is
a testament to the American Dream which I honor. But in rising through the
ranks he and his wife profited from the misery of millions or ordinary
Americans, the very Middle American Evangelicals he is now trying to trick
again, into voting for him. Cruz used his wife’s blood money from Goldman to
help finance his senate campaign. This time, his scheme will not succeed.
“Republicans should
wake up to the reality that Ted Cruz’ wife’s relationship to Goldman Sachs is a
disqualifying factor. We do not need a ‘Bonne and Clyde ’ of Goldman Sachs in the White House.
“If Ted wants to stay
in the race, he should release both his and his wife’s tax returns going back
fifteen years (the way Jeb Bush did) and release all of the paperwork
disclosing his wife’s career and compensation from and relationship with
Goldman Sachs that allowed them to receive a $500,000 loan. Once that
information has seen the light of day, voters can make up their own minds concerning
his fitness to be nominated and serve. I have my opinion. What’s yours?”
