The “Baby in the hospital” TV ad
Using a new anonymous political committee that has been authorized by the U. S. Supreme Court, Ron Paul and his posse are broadcasting a dramatization in which a man says Ron Paul delivered his spouse's stillborn baby (see link below). That aspect may or may not be true. Paul offers no documentation or authentication for the claim.
What is more significant, however, and what reveals the complete hypocrisy of the Paul campaign, is that Paul doesn’t believe the African-American had a right to even be in the hospital. Paul opposes the federal laws that prevent hospitals from discriminating on the basis of race. Paul promises to repeal the civil rights laws. So Paul is trying to take credit for treating a patient when the patient’s spouse would not even be allowed to seek treatment in the hospital (the patient was white, the spouse African-American) and when the hospital in a “Paul’s World” would be free to discriminate against mixed-race couples.
The incident in the TV ad is supposed to have taken place approximately forty (40) years ago. Paul inadvertently confirms that there was widespread racism in his own hospital, where he was an attending physician, thus confirming the need for civil rights laws to protect the right of every American to access medical care without racial discrimination.
So how about it, Ron? Do you still support repealing civil rights laws and federal hospital laws, so your own hospital could discriminate against African-Americans and mixed-race couples?
Footnote: Ron Paul’s presidential campaign supporters, such as David Duke and Donald Black, make no secret of their “White supremacist” views. Why won’t Paul reject their support? Why is Paul silent?
