(San Francisco November 27, 2015 ) Republican presidential
candidate Andy Martin will hold a bifurcated San Francisco
news conference today, November 27th to suggest that continued California
support for sanctuary cities will inevitably lead to denial of federal aid in
the event of a natural disaster such as a major earthquake.
“You can’t be part of a nation and still defy the nation,” Andy
says. “The murder of Kate Steinle by someone who had repeatedly violated
federal law, and who was protected as a fugitive by San
Francisco authorities, marks a turning point in the
national attitudes toward California ’s
support for sanctuary cities.
“Part of nationhood is that we stick up for each other, not
that we stab each other in the back. Today California
leaders are burning bridges to the American people, not building them. If
California authorities continue to defy the will of congress it is inevitable
that in the event of a future disaster, federal aid either will not be
forthcoming or it will be conditioned on compliance with onerous conditions
such as a prior and complete end to sanctuary cities and other legally deviant
behavior by the State of California.
“Why should Americans pitch in to help California
in an hour of need when the state blatantly defies federal law and endangers
every American by serving as a pipeline or conduct for the metastasis of illegal
immigration?
“There will come a day when the People of California will
need the rest of the country and the rest of the country may not be there for
them. I am sure first aid will be made available, but long term aid? Doubtful.
Congress will not appropriate funds to reward a state that has defied federal
laws.
“Today the choice may seem abstract or unlikely; tomorrow a
natural disaster could render the gap between the rest of America
and California even deeper than
gashes in the earth left by an earthquake,” Andy suggests. “If California
wants to continue to be a haven for illegal immigration that is a choice which
could have dire consequences in the future.”
“It may sound unusual to predict a future denial of
earthquake assistance as payback for California ’s
defiance of American law and support for sanctuary cities, but tomorrow my
views will be the mainstream of presidential politics.”
