New Hampshire Governor receives ultimatum: cancel “The Balsams” scam or face probe

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a Chicago/Concord, NH telephone news conference Wednesday, July 20th to release a copy of an “ultimatum letter” to New Hampshire Governor John Lynch to cancel the purported sale of New Hampshire’s landmark hotel “The Balsams.” Martin says the sale “smells” and was a sweetheart deal to Ocean Properties, Ltd. Martin plans to ask the NH Executive Council, FBI and New Hampshire Supreme Court to open investigations of The Balsams sale scam. The Balsams is the largest employer in the North Country and has been ordered closed by its new “owner.”

(CHICAGO)(July 20, 2011) Corruption-fighting Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a Chicago/Concord, New Hampshire telephone news conference Wednesday, July 20th to announce he has delivered an ultimatum to New Hampshire Governor John Lynch to cancel the fraudulent sale of New Hampshire landmark hotel “The Balsams.” [www.TheBalsams.com] The Balsams in the largest employer in the North Country and has been ordered closed by the hotel’s new scam buyer, Ocean Properties, Ltd.

Martin says Lynch and NH Attorney General Michael Delaney have “violated their trust to the People of New Hampshire.”

“The Balsams” is owned by the Tillotson charitable trust; the sale required state approval. The Tillotson Trust is supposed to be operated for the express benefit of residents in the North Country, not for the benefit of political scam artists and real estate scam operators. The scam buyer, Ocean Properties, Ltd. promised not to close the hotel as part of AG Michael Delaney’s approval process and then notified employees the hotel was being closed after Delaney backed the sale.

Martin is one of the nation’s most experienced corruption fighters, with forty-five years of background fighting Illinois state and Chicago city corruption. He is a Republican candidate for president with extensive New Hampshire campaign operations.

“The way the sale of The Balsams was handled is a classic Illinois-style scam,” Martin charges. “They ‘sold’ the property without disclosing a purchase price, then negotiated in secret, and then approved the sale under false pretenses. Huh? This sale better be cancelled or someone should go to jail in New Hampshire. Ocean Properties is a corrupt outfit that obtained contractual rights through fraud and misrepresentation, a classic ‘Civil RICO’ situation.

“The Governor’s silence on The Balsams sale is a quintessential case of ‘the dog that didn’t bark’ (Sherlock Holmes). The Governor’s silence on the loss of 300 North Country jobs betrays everything we need to know about his bona fides in the deal.”

Martin is also evaluating whether to ask for a national boycott of Ocean Properties, Ltd. hotels and resorts as part of his opposition to The Balsams sale scam.
