DEBATE CHALLENGE

Dear Mr. Pitts:

Your comments in a column last week exhorting opponents of President Barack Obama to use vulgar racial epithets, and your claim that anyone who questions the Emperor Obama is less then human, partake of extreme racism on your part. Trying to make Obama superhuman, and dehumanizing his critics, is classic racist/Nazi ideology. Your remarks reflect how far from the reality of the American people your world view has strayed.

Many Americans voted for Obama precisely because he had a mixed racial and African-American background. They were open-minded and fair-minded. Today many, if not most, of them are disillusioned. So how did the same people who were open and fair-minded when they voted for Obama become racist monsters when they started asking tough questions about his provenance and competence?

Barack Obama was never remotely qualified to serve as president. His election was the ultimate affirmative action scam. Only this time, instead of the individual victims who lost their jobs to affirmative action being the ones who suffer, today the entire nation is in distress as a result of Obama’s incompetence and arrogance. We are all victims.

I created the so-called “Birther” movement. Beginning in 2004 I began to expose Obama as a fraud. I have a forty-five year career in public life and all of it is directed at ending discrimination and promoting civil rights. I do not think that affirmative action promotes either civil rights or an end to discrimination. Rather, affirmative action promotes the kind of bitterness and recrimination expressed in your column attacking Obama’s critics who doubt his nativity narrative.

Ironically your racist diatribe against Obama’s critics is shooting in a circular direction. Karl Rove and other establishment parliamentarians agree with you. They are afraid of the Birther issue just as you are. The Birther phenomenon is a grass roots movement of ordinary Americans who are tried of being lied to by the liberal mainstream media and looked down on by arrogant Obama apologists such as yourself. So you and Karl Rove agree. That should scare you.

I would like to challenge you to debate whether Obama’s Birther critics are racists, or not. We can debate in the Miami Herald newsroom if you feel more comfortable there, cocooned in a liberal ecosystem. Or we can debate anywhere in South Florida you want to stand up before an audience with me to debate the issues of Obama’s birth. We can also address his incompetence.

No doubt you will be reluctant to do so. It is far safer to demand that your adversaries use the “N-word,” so you may play pretend racism with them. It is far easier to ignore the evidence and to accept Obama’s fantasies.

You don’t have a monopoly on racial huckstering. Al Sharpton is also accusing Obama’s birth critics of being racists. Will wonders never cease? You’re in nice company. Obama, Sharpton & Pitts.

I will fly to South Florida on Tuesday and be prepared to debate you anywhere, any time of your choosing. If you are man enough to accept my challenge, please contact me by phone or email and I will be happy to appear at the appointed time and place you select to defend the right of over 100 million Americans to express doubts about Barack Obama's birth without being smeared by the likes of yourself.

Let me say in closing that I believe the Herald also showed abysmal judgment in publishing the unedited version of your column inviting use of the N-word in public and political discourse. African-Americans seem to be in love with that word. I hear it all the time on subways and buses in Chicago and New York, and on city streets.

Most Americans, however, find all forms of discrimination to be despicable. We fought a second civil war in the 1960’s to finally put an end to racism. Efforts such as yours to revive racial hostility are most unfortunate. Perhaps those who have become addicted to the opiate of affirmative action can’t accept that it is time to bury racist language, not revive it. The Herald owed its readers better.
