Foreign policy expert and Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin holds a New York news conference today, Thursday, May 5th at 1:00 P.M. to accuse the Obama administration of engaging in a cover-up of the flawed policy behind the successful mission that killed Obama bin Laden. Martin has filed a Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) request seeking the release of the complete archive documenting the capture and death of Osama Bin Laden. Thursday he will be filing an amended FOIA request.
“The more I study the Osama ‘kill,’ the more suspicious I become,” Martin says. “This mission's policy parameters were bungled by the White House from the gitgo. Now Obama has imposed an iron curtain of secrecy on his own pathetic lies and misrepresentations (see link below).
“Instead of providing more information, Obama has decided to ‘clam up’ and just bask in the bogus glory of a grossly incompetently conceived mission.
“Let me start by explaining what my criticisms do not involve. First, I absolutely believe we killed Osama bin Laden. I have no doubt of that fact whatsoever. Osama is dead. Second, our Navy Seals performed admirably. They were given a mission, and they executed the mission flawlessly. You can’t ask for anything more from the men in the field.
“But the mission the men were given was conceptually flawed.
“First, Obama was apparently unenthusiastic about launching efforts to capture bin Laden because Obama was afraid of the political consequences of successfully capturing Osama alive. That’s why Obama approved a ‘kill’ when common sense tells you a live capture would have yielded more valuable intelligence and a massive propaganda victory against radical Islam.
“Obama was trying to protect radical Islamists from an even bigger disaster than the one we have now inflicted on them.
“Second, Osama was apparently killed in cold blood. He was unarmed and Jay Carney’s fantasy about Osama’s ‘resisting’ is a sheer fabrication. Remember that we were told in 2001 that Osama was a very sick man. Osama ‘could not survive’ in a cave because he had kidney problems and required dialysis. Did his health improve in the past decade? Obviously not. So we have a frail 50 year-old man with a life-threatening condition, unarmed. And the Seals could not have restrained bin Laden and bundled him into a helicopter? Of course they could have. Why didn’t they?
“As the truth eventually surfaces—and Obama is now suppressing the facts (see link below)—it will become apparent that while there was plenty of time to scoop up mechanical intelligence (computers, drives, etc.) supposedly there was no time to take along human intelligence in the person of bin Laden. Nonsense. The entire concept of the mission was a Keystone Cops comedy designed by the White House to kill bin Laden to protect radical Islamists from the consequences of his capture.
“President Obama is a national security threat to the American people. He ordered a man killed whose propaganda value was infinitely greater alive than dead. This is a disaster for US national security interests. Why kill? Osama could have and should have been taken alive. Period.
“Wednesday afternoon I predicted a cover-up was in progress. Almost immediately thereafter Obama ordered a ‘lockdown’ of information on the raid. Why the sudden secrecy? Earlier this week every newspaper had a picture of the Obama ‘team’ watching the live video feed of the raid in progress. Now that live tape is going to be suppressed. How can something be secret when people were shown watching the raid-in-progress?
“Sarah Palin, with her ‘earthy’ approach to these matters, agrees with me. She told Obama not to pussy foot around. Obama is doing worse than pussy footing. He is covering up a corrupt and incompetent policy that was crafted to protect radical Islamists while satisfying the American public's demand for retribution.
“To avoid confusion, I want to stress again the critical distinction between a flawed policy and a perfect raid. The raid was executed perfectly by the men in Seal Team 6. But they did not create the policy behind the raid. The policy they were implementing was flawed because it insisted on killing an unarmed man who was not resisting capture in any meaningful manner.
“Obama staged a politically motivated charade to kill bin Laden because Obama wanted the ‘bonus’ of the kill without the ‘onus’ of having to handle a live Osama bin laden afterwards. In my opinion, that constitutes state-sanctioned murder.
“I remember the Watergate years, when Ron Ziegler would change stories and call earlier versions of the truth ‘inoperative.’ Carney’s serialized fictionalization of how the raid was conducted renders everything Obama now says and does ‘inoperative.’ Jay Carney is the new Ron Ziegler. From its inception the raid was inappropriately designed to kill a man who was worth more alive than dead.
“Why did Carney fabricate a ‘firefight’ that never happened? One man with a revolver up against heavily armed Seals is not a ‘firefight.’ It is barely a shootout.
“Finally, let us not forget the time frame of this mission. This was not an ‘emergency’ mission where Osama was suddenly seen on a street and it was urgent to act instantly. We had the compound under surveillance for months. We had plenty of time to plan to capture Osama alive. There was no pressure to develop an ‘instant’ policy. But we planned from the inception of the mission to kill bin Laden. Why?
“Given that bin Laden had promised he would never be taken alive, taking him alive would have dealt a crushing blow to Islamic fanaticism. Obama nullified that fatal blow to radical Islam. Why? Because Obama was undermining American policy from within, and protecting radical Islam while pretending to be on the attack against bin Laden.
“We will have much, much more to say about the Osama policy disaster and the post-kill cover-up during the presidential campaign,” Martin says. “Once again Obama acted politically instead of as a competent manager of the clandestine services.
“Osama bin Laden was reduced to a prop in the Obama reelection campaign. A proper intelligence policy would have told the men to take Osama alive if that was feasible and to use deadly force if necessary. Obama did not want Osama taken alive, and that is a tragedy for American intelligence.
“To protect himself politically, Obama has endangered,
not protected, our national security by killing someone who would have been an incredibly valuable interrogation witness,” Martin charges. “It is disgraceful that Obama is coming to
